This afternoon, we perused the pavilions and peeked at the personalities on display. A paucity of parchments gave way to puddled plots packed with people. The festival is not so much a pantheon of novels, anthologies, prequels, sequels, and biographies, as it was a celebration of authorship transliterated onto a landscape of tarpaulin, tents, and tabernacles. We spotted a few pen-folk. Rushdie and Gaiman were my favorites on-site. We even brushed up against two well-known buses, before turning the last few pages of our adventure.

Epilogue: While walking home from the Metro, we reflected on the crosswalk button. Perplexed by the convex covered in drizzle, we synchronized our snapshots.

these pictures are wonderful. did you meet salman rushdie!!?? holy moly!!! how cool. another reason i should move to dc!!
Awesome pictures ! I agree with Margarita, yet another reason why we should move to DC. So much to do ..
Funny thing about Salman Rushdie ... I had to google his name. I don't know him by name, but by the ex-husband of the top chef host ....
"Meet" Mr. Rusdhie, I did not. The line was insane!! And, he was only signing one book per person in order to accommodate everyone in line. So we skipped the line. Also, the apparent lack of security was surreal. I was amazed that I was able to stand fifteen feet or so from him and snap some pictures, while he inscribed his ink.
I agree...both of you should move to DC. :) Some suggestions for your new blog titles...motownrunnergirlrunsforCongress, AnaenTysonsCornerMall...
Oh...the "Top Chef" host-Padma Lakshmi...I had to Google her. OMG! I have to read Rushdie's FURY, which he dedicated to her.
anaentysonscornermall ... I LIKE !!! Although the times I have been there it was crazy busy. The Crate and Barrel across the street is really nice too ... Can you tell I gauge a place by its malls :).
salman rushdie dedicated a book to padma from top chef?????? i'm speechless.
pfaaahaaahaaaa!! those are some hilarious names for blogs. i love them!!!!
whoa!!! padma was married to salman rushdie??? i feel so ignorant. when did this happen??
this has been the most interesting blogging experience this morning....
I think they married in 2004 and divorced in 2007, but you might need to check up on it. Issues...on both their parts.
I am glad I was able to enlighten both of you as to the Top Chef host and Salman.
